Resilience #57 Four in Four
4 things I’ve learned from running every day for 4 years (that aren’t just about running!).
Today is #run1461. A consecutive running streak of 4 years. These are my top 4 takeaways:
- Aches and pains will come and go. Generally speaking, maintaining some sort of activity is better than inactivity. Doing something trumps doing nothing. When things don’t go to plan (which invariably happens in life) adapt the plan. Accommodation is better than capitulation!
- If you want to run fast you’ve got to train fast. Sounds obvious, right? But we’re very good at appeasing ourselves and diluting what’s required. Effort pays dividends.
- Challenge is good. We’re capable of running further or faster than we think. Talk yourself up rather than talking yourself down. Chances are you’re setting your personal bar too low.
- There is a big difference between a good reason and a good excuse. Don’t confuse the two. If you really want to do something, you should be able to find the time.
Running is simple. It’s about putting your best foot forward. Do that every single day, whatever race you’re running, and things will eventually add up!
